The Middle East Media and Policy Studies Institute (MEMPSI) has concluded its training course on journalistic writing, providing participants with new knowledge and skills to conduct their journalistic work.
The course, delivered by the American journalist Jacob Wirtschafter, focused on writing to communicate to audiences, identify and use information from reliable sources, and handle tools for digital reporting and investigative journalism.
Participants evaluated ways to improve photo descriptions, contextualize interviews, and professionally draw information from press releases from corporate entities and government agencies.
Wirtschafter illustrated changes in the global media ecosystem and how the technological shift opens new opportunities and poses new threats to practicing journalists.
MEMPSI is a leading training center at the local and regional levels. It facilitates training courses on news coverage, advanced editing, field production, and reporting on business and economic issues.
Specialized seminars include news writing and editing for ESL journalists, photojournalism, professional image processing, and captioning.
Chairman of the Institute’s Board of Trustees Eng. Mohamed Fakhry Al-Ajlouni said MEMPSI attaches particular importance to the training and is constantly working to keep pace with the rapid development in the journalistic and media field.
“Training courses provide participants with journalistic work skills, which in return improve work performance and the output and construct media messages,” he added.
Al-Ajlouni called on the trainees to constantly develop their skills and keep abreast of developments to build professional capacities as the central pillar of quality journalism.
Jacob Wirtschafter, the course instructor, is an experienced journalist specializing in covering Middle East affairs and has trained reporters in Cairo, Ramallah, and Amman.
