Middle East Media and Policy Studies Institute (MEMPSI) is an independent, non-governmental research institution. It was established in Amman to provide a thorough and accurate understanding of the challenges facing the process of political reform and democratic transition in Jordan and the Arab countries, deepen the values of citizenship and human rights, strengthen the concept of media freedom. It also aims to expand citizens’ political participation, promote freedom of the press and the independence of the media, and establish the “right to know“ and access to information.
The working methodology of the institute relies on preparing research, studies, reports, and policy papers, conducting exploratory and survey studies, and establishing “observatories“ specialized in press freedom. It also pays attention to training parties, civil society institutions, youth movements, and women’s organizations, builds the institutional capacities, develops internal democratic practice, helps build alliances, coalitions, and networks, develops expertise in mobilizing support, and provides them with the best regional and international experiences that help them achieve their goals.” icon=”document”]
